Lapsus Calumni 12: The Environs of Milagros

Well, after weeks of struggle, pain and sacrifice, it is finally here.

In this issue of the zine we explore the area surrounding the coastal city of Milagros. Yes, there is a Hex map. Yes there is a Minotaur...a few actually, two not very nice ones, and one is a mother-in-law. There are halflings as well. Some lizard folk round out the fun.

A big thanks goes out to my friend Rob Miller, he had the painful job of making my chatter sound coherent and intelligent, by no means an easy feat.

The great thing about this issue, I think, is that I am currently using this area (albeit the next Hex over to the west) I am currently running in a sort of hybrid Play by Email and Hangouts, so there should be plenty of tidbits I can add to future issues of the zine using things explored and discovered in the game.

You can click here download the PDF, or view the document below in Google Document's Viewer.

  1. Great! Just printed out the zine. You should add a donate button for those who appreciate the zine and would like to see more.

    1. I was actually thinking of adding the option for people to actually order a hard copy of the zine which I would mail to them, just a limited number, nothing as nuts as what Christian has going on over there at Loviatar. Have to look at numbers and such, and I am not sure on the readership, if there are enough readers to support something like. We will see what sort of feedback I get on this issue.

Let me know what you think of it, thought on how to make it better, etc.

  5. Thanks everyone, I hope you are enjoying it. Dave, if you have any ideas, please share them. I plan on fleshing out Milagros in a future issue of LC and any great ideas you MIT have could be incorporated into the 'official' city.

  6. Matt.. quick question for ya.. On your NPC hows the single saving throw work. I'm used to more of a F3, MU2 to reference a chart..don't know if there is a conversion.. everything else slides right into BFRPG.

    1. If you look at Swords & Wizardry, the saw it lists monster stats (and characters as well) is with a single saving throw to be utilized against all. It provides an optional alternate rule that allows for different categories of saving throws, probably what you are used to such as Death Ray, Poison, Spells, etc.

I tend to like a simpler system and prefer the one save to rule them all and just give on the fly situational modifiers as I see fit.

    2. Thanx Matt.. I gave it some thought after I posted this and thought that must be how they use that number.. its not a bad idea and it keeps from having to reference a chart.
